Here is a link for a Graphing Tool that we will be using in science class.  It will help us analyze our data that we have been collecting outside.  I think you are going to like it!  http://nces.ed.gov/nceskids/createagraph/

Welcome to Our Open House!

This is the second year for this blog, and I am excited to see how it continues to grow.  The blog is not so much created by me; rather, it becomes an extension of the classroom and the collective effort of the students.  I am excited.  I hope you find the time to visit often and interact with us by commenting on our efforts.

We are glad you came to visit.

Our First week Back!

In Math this week, we played two Math games.  One game was a game called MADdition, a game similar to Jeopardy, and the other game was a dice game.  Both games used different strategies for finding the sum.

We wrote about our favourite challenge and goal for the year to let Mr.Carr learn a little more about us.  We also started a graphic organizer about the favourite thing we did this summer.  The graphic organizer was a garden gate that we wrote our ideas on and it is going to help us write a recount.

We learned that our Code of Conduct is "Be Responsible, Be Respectful, Be Safe."  We made posters in groups of 4 to show the code of conduct in action when in our classroom.  This way, if you are new to the school you can read the Code of Conduct and you will understand how to be safe, responsible and repectful.

Feels nice to be back in school.

Welcome Back!

Wednesday is the fist day back to school, and it looks like it is going to be a wet one.  I can't wait to get started, and I am excited to keep you up to date with the blog.  If you are new to the blog, have a look around.  Much of the content has been hidden for the time being since it is early in the year, but the blog will grow and change as the year progresses, so check back often.  Have an excellent day!

grade 5 talent show

On fun day all the students I.V.S went to the gym to watch the talent show.  The teachers probably thought since the grade fives were leaveing for grade 6 they would do a grade 5 talant show.  All the singing was great but DeeDee was really good. There was also dancing, guitars and comedy.  It was a good show.

fun day!!!! :)

On June 14, 2012 Island View School had fun day. There were lots of fun activities that we did. One of my favorite activities was the slippery chicken relay. I liked it because it got harder as we got further along in the race. There were 3 different rounds that we had to do and there were 2 teams. The first one you had to run to a bucket that had water soap and a chicken in it. Then you have to take it out and run back to your team and give it to the next person. If you weren’t the first person then you would have to when you got the chicken run to the bucket dip it into the bucket and run back then you keep doing that until all of your team is done. Then one the 2nd round you had to run to the bucket get the chicken out and run backwards, then hand it to the next person who had to take the chicken dunk it into the bucket then run backwards hand it to the next person in line. The 3rd round if you were the first person in line you would have to run to get the chicken pick it up from the bucket and put It between your legs. Then you had to hop back and give it to the next person. Then the next person carries it in their hands to the bucket. Then you have to dunk it and hop with the chicken between your legs. Then you had to give it to the next person then they would keep doing the same thing until it was done and everyone had gone. Then whoever got the most wins won. Both of the teams won one, and the final round was a tie. So our teams tied. That relay game was really fun and I am looking forward to do fun day again next year. :)
