Our Class

This is the page that was created by last year's grade 4 class, and it will be under construction over the next little while by current grade 4 class.  This will look a little different, and we will try some new things with the page, so check back and see how we are doing.

Mr. Carr

Hello people of the world!  We can’t welcome you in person all the time, so this is a picture of our class in DoppleMe form sending a welcome message to you.  Through our blog you will be able to check out our cichlid fish tank with a pleco, you will see the Math games we play (our favourite is Shikaku.  Something else we are proud of is our Code of Conduct; Be Respectful, be Responsible and be Safe.

You could comment on things you see or read, but please leave your name so we know who we are talking to.  If you keep checking back, you will get to see new additions to our class.  We will be getting meal worms, and we might be getting a crayfish and gecko.

Thanks for visiting!

Blast from the Past!Travel back in time to experiment with old technology.

Even though we have a SMART board and computers in our class, we have still found a way to use an old overhead projector. We have used it to look closely at writing samples, and compared the samples to see which one was written better. Also, we are going to use dry erase markers to write on the transparencies, and we will be able to see our work projected on the wall. This sounds like it will be more interesting than writing on a piece of paper, because you will be able to see the writing more clearly.  Picture soon to follow!

This is our class in the first week of school.  It looks quiet now, but when all the students are in the room, there is a comfortable buzz in the room as we are busy learning.  Many fun and interesting things take place in this room, and I am excited to say that the students will tell you all about it.

Smart Board
In our class we have a Smart Board. A smart board is a like a computer except a smart board is bigger and you have markers just for it that you can’t use on anything else or you can’t take one of your markers on it.  You could use your fingers. The smart board is normally gray and black. In school we use it when he wants to explain something or show us something. The smart board can plug into your computer so you could type on your computer and it can come up on the smart board. If you are trying to get something up and you don’t want anyone to see you can put up freeze on.

I really like the smart board because Mr. Carr lets us use it sometimes!

Sunset Pictures!
For art we all, as a table-group, got two colors, yellow and orange.  Then had to make a sunset.  We got a piece of black construction paper and cut  a background for  the sunset.  You could cut out straight or swirls. Then you glue it on the sunset pictures.  It would then look like a sunset!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Look at Us
Look at us. These are our class pictures that took us about 2 weeks to draw and I guess hang. Mr. Carr gave us some advice and showed us the basics. We did the rest. If you walk into the class we want you to see us even if we are not inside, you can see our portraits! I guess some would say…

Picture perfect

Science corner

There is a fish tank in the far corner of the room. It is very nice. We have 3 tiger barbs 1 African Cichlid and a crayfish.
We are also raising mealworms back there. What is a mealworm you might ask? Well I’ll tell you. A meal worm is a little worm that has an exoskeleton (a skeleton on the outside of it’s body)
Bye now

JOur class healthy eating trophy J
By: Jade

We worked really hard in bringing in healthy eating snacks during the month of November. There are green light snacks which are fruit and veggies. Then there is yellow light which are dry up fruit, gold fish, and cheese and crackers. Finally there are red light snacks witch are cookies, chocolate, and candy. Every month a class wins the trophy for bringing in healthy snacks. If they win our teacher Mr. Carr makes fruit smoothies with the class. Yummy! We did it all ready, it tasted so good. It’s gold and shiny. Then there is an angel that stands on top. Every class gets it at the care assembly. My favorite part about the trophy is that we did a great job! J

The Book Tubs
Our book tubs are numbered so we know which one is ours. They are dark red and bright orange. We keep our books in them so they don’t get all over the room. They come in handy if you don’t know where to put your books.
