Update on the Voicemail

Hi Everyone,

Great voicemails! I am learning all kinds of interesting facts about lion fish and men who can blow bubbles out of their eyes under water! I just found out that if you put an email address in the information at the start of the recording process, I am able to send a recording back to you. Since I haven't done a reply yet, there might be some glitches along the way that we will have to sort out. Speaking of glitches, some of you may have to update your flash driver, but that may still leave you with a technical difficulty - I am working on it and I will let you know when I find a solution.

Happy Holidays!

Our World of Classroom Cheer

For something that seems to be,
At times so difficult to see;
With the world of news aloud,
Sending signs and sound of cloud.

Kindness floats about today,
In acts and words that stay,
In minds and hearts are meant,
The clouds of news are sent.

Today the sky seems clear,
With holiday song and cheer,
Your acts of kindness; you see,
Mean the world to me.

 Thank you and Merry Christmas!

Homework Message - No Pun Intended

Hello Everyone,

With this being the last week before Christmas, the regular homework sheet will not be coming home.  Instead, students have been encouraged to read every night, and then send a voicemail message through the blog (See the tab on the right of the page).  You will need a microphone to do this if your computer doesn't have one, or I can lend you one if you really want to try it out but you don't have a microphone at home.  There will be a sheet coming home tomorrow with the little bits of information I will be looking for in the recording, but here is what I am looking for:
  • Your Name
  • The book you read and the author
  • Interesting Fact or what was the main idea of what you read
  • A concluding statement
I think it will be fun...looking forward to hearing from you.

Cinquain Poem

We are writing cinquain poems in the class, and this is an great example of using word choice to establish mood.  The sinking of the Titanic was an emotional event, and I think this poet describes it well in 5 lines.

Shipwrecked

Titanic,

Screaming people,
Rescue boats afloat,
Falling beneath the waves,
Missing.

Pet Corral Enhances Positive Learning Environment!

Thanks to the Pet Corral in Saint John, the students in our class have a new pet.  This baby Crested Gecko arrived at the end of the day today amidst much anticipation.  It was a little camera shy when the picture was taken, but we are sure it will warm up to the spot light in no time!  This classroom pet would not have been possible if it wasn't for the help of the Pet Corral.  They donated the terrarium and all the things that make for a great gecko home; it arrived in the class with a smile on its face!  The smile was almost as big as the smile on the students' faces.  Thanks!
